Our mission is to create value for the healthcare market, our employees, and the shareholders of the company by developing, manufacturing, marketing and servicing innovative medical devices for ventilator management in compliance with international standards.

We want to be recognized globally amongst key opinion leaders and commercial partners as the most innovative company providing leading technology, care systems and solutions for optimizing the ventilation management in Intensive Care Unit.

In 1999, our research started for an intelligent ICU ventilation system - a computerized clinical decision support system. The research approach for providing computerized decision support ranged from: focusing on data, i.e. building statistical models to describe measurements; modeling the physiological and pathophysiological processes; to building systems representing the heuristic reasoning of clinicians, often structured as sets of rules.

In 2012, all models were built and validated for the intelligent ICU ventilation system, and Mermaid Care decided to start the implementation of these into the BEACON Caresystem - an ICU ventilator advisory system.

These are our important milestones:

  • 2012 BEACON R&D initiated

  • 2015 BEACON CE marked

  • 2016 BEACON ventilation Decision support launched in Europe

  • 2017 Patient #1500 enrolled in study for validating BEACONs algorithms and decision engine

  • 2018 BEACON shows clinical efficacy in 4-8h for ICU patients

  • 2018 BEACON is used in Multi Center Clinical Trials to demonstrate a 25% reduction on time on ventilation

  • 2019 BEACONs e-ICU and Nutrition Decision support development initiated

  • 2019 BEACON Nutrition Decision support launched in Europe

  • 2019 BEACON is cleared by the FDA
